A Little Dirt Never Hurt

Right? This evening Sophia and I decided to take a little jaunt around the hood. Of course we didn't get very far because she quickly discovered the little pebbles that litter the street and driveway. She'd take 5 steps, drop to the ground, and start shoving god knows what into her mouth. And she would NOT stay in the driveway, making it impossible to snap very many pictures. I'd carry her all the way back to the garage and she would immediately head to the street (good thing we live in a rather quiet neighborhood). Imagine that, only 1 and already trying to hightail it to the places she isn't suppose to be. Great!

Oh the year you have in store if she is already trying to make a run for it. :) Very Cute.

Must be a girl thing because my son was never into dirt. Ava on the other hand, has probably shoved things in her mouth I don't even want to know about. Love the pictures!!!

hmmm... not sure if it's a girl thing. EVERYTHING goes in Ethan's mouth. Sophie could definitely be Ethan's bestbud... they can eat dirt together. :)

I love the second pic. Her face says “YES! I’ve gotten away again!”

My kids take turns with the dirt and sticking everything in their mouths thing. I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve said “WHAT are you eating?” and squeezed their cheeks to make them open their mouth.

A little dirt just helps to build their immune system - take it from the mom whose kids eat EVERYTHING in sight. Evan even shared his corn dog with the dog the other night-literally. He took a bite, then let the dog take a bite. Cute, but disgusting. My advice...get good running shoes. You'll need them to chase her this summer!

Mud pies are kids favorite up here in New York. Just make sure she doesn't eat the dog poo that looks kind of like dirt like a friend of mine's child did. Yuck!!

I just keep telling myself, "More exposure to germs means greater immunity." I have no idea if that is scientifically proven, but it makes me feel better when Eleanor licks the playground equipment at the mall! :)
