Mega Bubbles

I love how something as simple as bubbles can make Sophie the happiest kid on the block. So imagine a regular tub of bubbles multiplied by 10! Good times. And the thing is suppose to be spill/mess proof. Yeah right.

We had an "interesting" weekend to say the least. Sophie came down with a SERIOUS case of hives. No clue what caused them. It could have been some sort of virus could have been the 10 tons of strawberries she ate (although they've never bothered her before, and her hives didn't show up until 17 hours later). Some of the hives were the size of my hand! At one point her face looked like someone wacked her in the forehead with a Louisville slugger! Of course they never slowed her down for one second! But by this morning they were all gone. Thank goodness!

52 Weeks: Me & Sophie B

Mommies NEVER get in front of the camera. So my photo board came up with a solution for that little problem.  Once a week, for the next year my mission is to take one photo a week of Sophie B AND myself. I've been meaning to get in more pictures for a long time now but of course I hate looking at myself in pics. And back in November I bought a remote for my camera but sadly yesterday was the first time I broke it out. Well today I decided to plop the camera on the dresser and see what happens. So here is week #1. Ok so you can't totally see my face, but it's a start.

I should say that I technically didn't snap it, Miss Sophie operated the remote and would not let it go (you can even see it in her hand!). She even took a few self portraits of herself, and if I do say so myself, she did a pretty good job!

Mirror Mirror

I'm posting 5 of these because I find them to be kind of cool. I snapped them as the good fairy Sophie was admiring herself in the bathroom mirror at my mom's house. They look a little funky  because I photographed her reflection. Apparently, fairies need a little make-up.

"Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

hopping down the bunny trail!" That song will FOREVER remind me of my papaw Lonzo who died last summer. For some reason that was one of his favorites and I remember him "hopping down the bunny trail" down the hall and the ENTIRE house would shake (he was on the plump side).  Hmm....and I wonder why we are constantly singing around here.

Anyway, sorry, got a little side tracked there.  Here's Little Bit's Easter loot. The Easter Bunny toned it down a notch this year because he knew that a certain little girl just had a birthday the prior Sunday. And I'm proud to say that Sophie is a HUGE fan of Peeps! YAY! Man do I love those things! And I guess I should go on the bad mommy list because I flat out REFUSED to color eggs. Maybe next year, but this year I didn't want to deal with the mess. Besides,  she colored eggs at daycare so I figure that it balances out.

Heading to Gi's! Notice the crocs. Nice.

Looking for eggs!

Mary Lou

So I have pics of Easter weekend to show but these are just too good not to show. Our girl had Steven and I rolling on the floor laughing as I was snapping these pics. Ok are you ready? I'm showing a lot because they make me chuckle

Quiet in the audience please.

Are you watching daddy? This is for gold!

get ready...

Not quite sure what this move is called.

TEN!!!!!

Steven's aunt Jeff (yes he has an aunt named Jeff, she's the coolest too) sent Soph a leotard for her birthday. So we had to do a little modeling. And she was ALL ABOUT IT. She walked her butt into the bathroom and drug her step stool out herself. She actually does pretty good at sticking the landing when she jumps off! Right now the gymnastics class is full so we have to bide our time until we can get in there and start rockin' the joint. I smell a scholarship in 16 years!

Hola!

I think I forgot to mention that Little Bit got a bike (ok so really it's a pink and purple tricycle but to her it's a bike) for her birthday from GiGi and PaPa. And it's ultra cool! Unfortunately, as she has her mama's genes, her legs are to short to keep her feet on the pedals for a full rotation but it won't be long until she's taking off! She has a cool Dora helmet too but I haven't attempted to put that on her yet. I have a feeling that Evel Knievel will say "helmet?" "you must be kidding, right?"

And we've now been watching Dora the Explorer. Until Friday I had NEVER seen Dora in action. Isn't that crazy? I wasn't even sure what channel she came on. But I found her yesterday and I have a feeling that Sophie will be bilingual in 2 months as can can't take her eyes from it. What is it about that cute little chica that sucks kids right in? We ventured to the Mexican restaurant tonight and when our Mexican waiter greeted us with "hola," it was all over. He had a new best friend. And his new friend, SeƱorita Sophia, felt the need to yell "HOLA" to him from across the restaurant as he filled drinks. Geesh.

After my own heart

So one of my most favorite things in the whole wide world is a GOOD butter cream icing on a cake. It actually must run in my family because my cousins (Rhianna and Kristen) and I have been known to purchase an entire cake for the heck of it just to eat the icing. YUM-O! And I wonder why I'm the size of a house. Anywho, a certain little girl must have inherited the same gene!

Some things never change...

I ALWAYS find myself having to defend our reasons for only wanting one child. Maybe it's because I am an only child myself that I see the world differently than people with siblings and vice versa. No one NEEDS a sibling. But I can guarantee you that everyone NEEDS a friend. Maybe for some people friends do come in the form of a sibling. Or maybe, no I'm quite certain, that two people can share a bond that some siblings couldn't even hold a candle to.

Par-tay

Lots of pics a comin'. This year we had a small b-day party for the big 2. Ask my dad and he'd say that last year he wouldn't have been surprised if  I rented a ballroom with a red carpet and horn blowers to accompany Little Bit's arrival. What-ever. This year it was small, just 4 kids (including Sophie, well 5 if you count baby Jordan but she sat on every one's lap and was perfectly sweet so she doesn't really count). And pizza and cupcakes were on the menu! What more could a kid ask for!

Perhaps a lollipop bouquet! Which I forgot to divide up so now I'm stuck with 60 some Dum Dums.

The head table. I think it stayed this way for .2 seconds!

Treat bags. Play-doh, M&Ms & stickers!

The cupcake cake. Ok so I have a slight obsession with cakes. And I HAD to find someone to make a giant cupcake! Easier said than done.

The VIPs. Gracie, Emma, Ethan, and Miss Thing. Is it just me or is Sophie giving Ethan "the eye." Hmmm....

Sweet baby Jordan.

Two Years

"She's two."

Over the past month it seems as though we've been answering a lot of questions with the same answer: she's two.

Q: Why is she rolling around in the floor like an epileptic over a blue Dora Cup?
A: She's two.
Q: Why is she making a sound that is strikingly similar to Chewy from Star Wars?
A: She's two.
Q: Why does she insist that a school bus is white when she knows darn well that it's yellow?
A: SHE'S TWO!

Well today Little Bit you really are two. 731 days old. Wow, when you think about it like that, we haven't even broken a thousand yet! Everyone has been warning us about the terrible twos. Well I've got news for them, I think we've already been there and we're still there. I don't think our old friend Sigmund Freud could analyze or even begin to understand the logic behind your two year old brain. Sometimes it's quite hilarious and your daddy and I will find ourselves telling anyone who will listen wacky stunts that you've pulled. Other times we wonder how Jeffrey Dahmer acted when he was two. Were there signs that he was going to be completely nuts and literally eat finger sandwiches for a snack?

You aren't anything if your aren't extreme and a chorus of contrasts (oooo that's deep, go mama). Happy as a clam one minute, tears steaming down your face the next. Miss Independent on Monday and totally and completely depending on us for everything on Tuesday. My best friend in the word, to if I had to guess, putting me in the same class as the Wicked Witch of the West and the Butcher of Baghdad.

It seems as though I've been waiting since the day you were born to turn two. When you're two you can do gymnastics. When you're two you can wear big girl undies. When you're two, you can sleep in a big girl bed. But now that you actually are two, I find myself thinking back to the tiny baby that you were. Five pounds and fifteen ounces. How was I to know then what an amazing little 2 year old you would become. How was I to know that you would love to sing more than anything in the world. Or be known for your pigtails. Or make me laugh every single day of my life.

Over night it's as if you turned into a big kid. Saying complete sentences, using the potty. You know what cracks us up? You'll concentrate so hard to learn a new song or steps to a dance. But when anyone tires to teach you colors or anything that doesn't go to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle or sung by the Fab Four of the Wiggles you get pissed. And I use such a strong word because that is the exact emotion that exudes from your little body.

You've given us another wonderful year. One that has kept us in stitches with laughter and one that's made your daddy loose some hair and me to gain some gray. Life sure is different with a toddler compared to baby. But we wouldn't have it any other way. "We love this crazy tragic, sometimes  almost magic, awful beautiful life."

(details on the little shin-dig to come!)

Little Cupcake

We are just a few hours away from a small little party for Miss Soon to be Two! I don't know WHY I killed myself cleaning my house. It's gonna be destroyed in no time flat! The theme for today's celebration: cupcakes! I meant to share this last week but forgot so I'll post it now. This is the AWESOME announcement/ invitation that my pal Janice whipped up. If you haven't checked her stuff out before, hop on over to Design Eleven and check it out! Some seriously CUTE stuff at ridiculously low prices!

Practice

First is was Sophie's pre-birthday celebration with Steven's family in Pennsylvania. Then came Daddy's birthday in February. Next on the list was GiGi's big 5-0! On the way to GiGi's surprise party I was practicing singing Happy Birthday and the girl just about flipped her wig when we got to the "Happy Birthday dear GiGi" line. "NO NO NO, MAMA, IT'S DADDY." I guess a song that isn't the same every time you sing it is totally absurd.

Meanwhile, I'm sitting here on the couch trying to watch Lost and for the last hour and a half I've been listening to Little Bit (who went to bed at 7:45) having a full blow conversation with herself and randomly busting out "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, "Monkeys Swinging from a Tree" and the ABC song. She has NEVER taken this long to go to sleep, usually in 10 minutes she's out for the count. I'm wondering if she got a hold of a can of Mt. Dew!

Bloomers

DSC_0043

A bloomer clad toddler bottom makes me chuckle. It also scares me. "Do you have to potty?" "Do you now?" "How about now?" "Are you sure?" I'm waiting for her to turn around and scream, "SHUT-UP ALREADY!"

And I haven't really mentioned it, but this Sunday So-pee-ia Carr (as she now calls herself) turns 2! I guess I really haven't wrapped my head around that fact. When I do, I'll get back to you.

Snow Bunny

So I pray that this is the end of the snow. I am 110% over it and more than ready for spring. But I didn't think it was right to go all winter long and not allow Little Bit to play in the white stuff. So I spent 20 minutes bundling her up (my awesome neighbor gave us a snowsuit) and we spent a whopping 5 -10 minutes outside. CPS was called shortly there after because I allowed my daughter's finger tips to freeze off. The snowsuit was warm and toasty but all I had for her hands was a pair of knit mittens. It's amazing how fast those babies get soaked. And of course she screamed and cried and totally flipped her wig when I brought her inside. Hurry up spring! (please excuse the giant photo, I don't know why but when I try to mix photobucket and blogger crazy things happen!)

Killing two Birds

Yes, this is another potty shot. But in my defense, we tend to spend a lot of time in the bathroom these days.  And when I cruised by the bathroom earlier today and saw what was poised on the toilet, I HAD to snap a photo and then I HAD to blog about it. The photo because it's hilarious, and the blogging part because it totally reminded me of some random comment my mom made a few years ago that cracked me and a friend up. We had been talking about something, and she busts out with this classic quote,  "Girls, there's only two things that a man can do at one time, and that's use the bathroom and read a newspaper." Or in the case of a Little Bit, play a game of toilet Yahtzee and pee.

Wreckage

This morning started out a little rough. On my way to work Sophie and I were the 3rd car that was involved in a pretty serious accident. There was a car in front of me (she was actually my neighbor) and all of the sudden, a car coming from the other direction, crossed the center line like it was nothing and plowed into the car in front of me. I had to slam on my brakes but I hit the girl in front of me (but not too hard.) They had to use the jaws of life to get both of them out of their cars. The guy that crossed the line was seriously injured and had to be life flighted out. Steven talked to my neighbor a little while ago and thankfully, she's only banged up from the air bag and her knees are sore.
We are fine and my car didn't suffer too much damage,I had slowed down so my airbag didn't deploy. Sophie kept pointing at the lights and saying “they helping?" b/c I always tell her that the police are helping. And she ended up with 3 stuffed animals out of the deal and gave all of the firemen high-fives. Thank GOD Steven was 3 cars behind me so he was able to get to us as soon as it happened. Thank-you everyone who emailed and called checking on Sophie and me. Be safe driving, you never know what could happen.
Here's photo that was on the news today. We were in the white SUV. The other 2 people drove civics and they are DEFINITELY totalled.

Ugh

Remember a few days ago when I showed you my shinny new Mac. Well I'm now Macless. 10 days after it found a new home in the Carr house, I discovered that a mere 2 days after I bought it, Apple released an ALL NEW mac book pro, with a bigger hard drive and faster processor for the SAME PRICE! So I boxed my computer up, took it back to the store and told them they they stole $300 from me (as my computer is now selling at an OUTLET price of $300 less). I was ready for a fight, but surprisingly, they took it back and ordered me a new one. I'm guessing that I wasn't the 1st person to complain. Unfortunately, I'm without a computer for a week or so. Oh well, at least I'm not in jail for breaking western on a computer salesman. So no new pics for a few days. :(

The Park 2008 Edition

This morning we woke up to a BEAUTIFUL day! And it's about time too. I am totally over the cold weather. Well I've had it in my head that as soon as it warms up I'd take Sophie on a picnic. So that's exactly what we did today! The park and a picnic. It was a little last minute so I didn't have any picnic type food in the house. The plan was to stop by the store on the way to the park but of course it was 11:20 am and the store didn't open until noon. No problem, we just swung by the gas station and Wendy's and whipped up a ghetto picnic! But I probably could have served chicken feet and Little Bit would have loved it for the simple fact that she was OUTSIDE! The girl was rockin' the jungle gym, by herself, since I was not allowed to assist. What a difference a year makes!

Of course right when we were leaving she was pushing the swings and her face got in the way. Yeah busted  nose, blood everywhere. But she's a tough little bird and didn't even cry that much.

Little Bit doing her Nichole Richie impression!

Apparently, standing up on it makes it go faster. Who knew?
