34 Months

Dear Sophia,

I mean this is the nicest way possible. THE. WHINING. HAS. GOT. TO. STOP. I think that your daddy and I are at a crossroads with this, either stop the whining, or go live with someone else. I don't understand it. I know of other kids that whine and I just don't see the point. With you, the MINUTE your feet hit the floor in the morning you start! This morning it was "mom-meeeeeeee I waaaaaant something to eaaaaaaat. And then we hear, "Oscar is geeeeeeting meeeeeee." Followed by "I waaaaaaant something to driiiiiiink." I admit I do not know what to do about it. I've thought about seeking guidance from self help books, other moms, and witch doctors. Whatever it takes, but the whining has got to stop. Did I mention that it has to stop? Because it does.

Aside from the whining, you've been pretty good kid this month.  Today, I took you to your first ever movie. "Hotel For Dogs." Daddy had to work so us girls needed something to do. He was betting against us and didn't think that you'd make it more than 1/2 hour. Boy was he surprised when I called him an hour and fifty minutes later.  You sat on a booster seat with your little tray of popcorn, sprite, and gummy bears for the ENTIRE movie.  I could not have been more proud. I knew you could do it. But I also know that there is NO WAY in hell you would have lasted had both me and daddy been there. Nor could you have lasted if you were with a friend. So I think we'll save movies for solo parent time.

This coming month is going to be a big month of change. As long as the stars align in their proper places and the three moons of Venus are spinning on the same axis, we will be moving. We are leaving the only house that you have ever known. You'll probably have no problem adjusting. The bigger problem will be me. Bringing you home to this house is etched in my mind so vividly. I remember walking in the door, on edge, in a haze due to pain pills, crazy worried that Oscar would try to eat you and worried that you wouldn't poop like you were suppose to.  But we laid you in the bassinet and you slept for 5 hours straight that first night! So we knew you were a keeper. It wouldn't be until a year later that we realized just what exactly we had signed up for. A girl with the imagination of Steven Spielberg, the temper of Stalin, the heart of Mother Teresa and stranger than fiction.

We are beyond excited to see you in your new BIG, big girl room. To finally be able to get you a kitten. To see you with room to spread all of your toys out and enjoy everything. Since October 90% of your stuff has been packed away and moved into storage and you haven't complained one single time. We are almost home. And I think we'll pack you up and take you with us.

Love Always, Mama.

I feel for you on the whining, but I'm sure it is a phase Sophie will grow out of in no time. I'm sure you'll all survive the move. At least you'll never have to move again. I can't wait to see the house in person! Kids in boxes always make for cute pictures. Good luck with everything- moving definitely sucks, but it is worth it once you get to the new place.

Maybe the whining is her way of dealing with your anxiousness/anxiety over the move to the new house - so hopefully it will all pass when you get in your new place. Wish you all the best for a smooth closing and easy move. Sophie B. - stay cool.

I'm sure that the whinning will soon pass. Once she gets excited about the new house, she'll be over whinning. Good luck with the move! Let us know if you need any help.

I wish I could say that the whining will pass, but we still have our days. Ugh. If you find the secret, please share it here!

Love the picture of Sophie B in the box. I bet she will just love the new house!

The whining does eventually stop. Or at least cut way, way back. By the time she's 6, it will be a thing of the past. hee hee
