Bowl-o-rama

Move over Kingpin, here comes Sophie B. Saturday afternoon, some people from Steven's work were participating in a Big Brothers & Big Sisters charity event. So right towards the end we stopped by to say hi. Little Bit got to roll a few balls down the lanes. HOWEVER, as we were saying goodbye , she totally humiliated us. Apparently, she wasn't ready to go. So what does she do? Yeah, she hauls off and hits Steven square in the face, Muhammad Ali style. Right in front of EVERYONE in the tax department (and a few auditors), and their spouses NICE. What was especially nice was hearing a few people say "ooooo."Right then and there we both wanted to run for the door and perhaps leave Sophie stranded outside of said door. But I know none of them would have wanted her b/c they've seen her in action!I have absolutley NO idea what to do about her hitting us. Time out is not working. And someone told me that drop kicking her was not only illegal, but also uneffective. A straigt jacket? No seriously, as it is not a laughing matter, does anyone have any suggestions? She's such a loving, motherly little girl 98% of the time but there's that 2% when Beelzebub takes over her little body.

Wow! You weren't kidding about the blast from the past, Kim! How are you?! You know, I totally credit you with my lifetime affection for tennis. I played in high school and I'm still playing all the time! Remember when we took those lessons together?! Wow! I probably haven't spoke to you since 8th grade! I'm going to add you to my friends blogs. We need to catch up!

Oh and not sure what to tell you about the TaeBo tot. I've got a grappler at my house. Let me know what advice you get. I'm sure I could use it too!

No idea on how to stop it, but she sure does look cute bowling!

I'm not sure it can be stopped. I think all kids go through that phase. Why is it always square in the face??? But wasn't she so cute when she was bowling? You know...BEFORE she gave her daddy a bloody nose.

Yeah, I don't know what to tell ya. I can't even count how many times I have had that same embarrassment. It sucks, but I think it is all part of the parenting game. Anyone who has kids has been slapped in the face a few times, so don't feel too bad. I don't have an effective method to deal with it other than gather up your stuff and run! LOL
GOOD LUCK!!

First of all, don't be embarassed. If they are parents, at some point their child has embarassed them, par for the course. Secondly, it will proably stop on its own just as quickly as it started. Just keep telling her No and she'll get it. btw, you used to kick shins.

Interesting, because we are having part 2 of our Sunday School class entitled "Disciplining with Love", taught by Dr. Jeff Harlow, a clinical psychologist who focuses on children and young adolescents, this coming Sunday. We actually touched on this exact topic last week. We also had two brand new couples, just trying us out :) Just interesting..........

I do think it is a phase. I remember braylon went through it also. they just firmly told them no hitting and placed him in time out...he is slowly growing out of it. we caught lydia chomping down on someone at her party...i hope it is a teething thing and she is not going to be a biter.

Hi Kim,

I can only share the universal parenting mantra, "This too shall pass." As proof, I ask, "When's the last time you kicked anyone in the shins?" Believe me, you had a mighty fine aim back in the day.

Love,
Aunt Paula

I agree with the other posts, it's just a phase. As I am currently walking around with a busted lip where Jonathan head butted me on Sunday, I do not think I should put my hat into this ring.
