The Great Pumpkin

I can't believe it's been an entire year since we've carved pumpkins. Last year Sophie literally gagged as we pulled out the pumpkin guts. This year, she dove right in and was beyond ticked that I wouldn't hand over the butcher knife. I know, mean of me right? I didn't get any pics of the finished products (i will later) but I must say that we made some good lookin' Jack-o-lanterns this year. We took a drill bit to one and poked holes all over it...it looks awesome lit up! Right now they are literally chilling in the  basement refrigerator, slathered in Vaseline until trick-or-treat night on Thursday. There's nothing worse than a mushed in Jack!

One Little Indian Girl

I'm back!!! I must say that Apple was lightening fast with fixing my computer! Only a four day turn around time and that including shipment to Texas. Wow!

Anywho, I don't have a lot of time to blog tonight so I thought I'd quickly post a pic of Pocahontas. She's is full out Halloween mode. Trick-or-treat night won't get here soon enough for her!

Hovering around a 2

My mom always says that on a scale of 1 to 10 on the happiness meter, Oscar the Boxer is hovering around a 2. Perhaps this might explain why:

Steven's sister emailed me this picture that she took a few weeks ago at her house. Yeah,Oscar looks THRILLED!
And the computer isn't fixed...i'm coming to you live from my abacus.

Ruby Noel

Love her parents.
Love her name.
Love her.

Miss Ruby was born yesterday weighing in at 7 pounds and 12 ounces and she's beautiful.  I was going to go see them at the hospital at lunch but Carrie was out of there in no time flat. So I made a house call. I think I could have held her all day. But of course I had to go home to my baby, my wild, crazy, and loud big baby.

And I'm shipping out my computer tomorrow so I'll probably be out for awhile. :(

My Southern Belle

We spent an entire week in the heart of the south and what does Little Bit want to do more than anything in the world?

Catch a squirrel. That crazy girl of mine chased squirrels from one side of Charleston to the other yelling "I've GOT to touch it!"

We are home and unpacked and ready to get back into our normal routine. Ah, Monday.

31 Months

Or 2 years and 7 months to be exact.

Dear Sophia,

I almost forgot to post your letter this month since we are on vacation! Lucky for you, wireless Internet exists. So here we are in South Carolina. I don't know what exactly happens when we go out of town but you turn into a completely different person. A perfect little travel companion. Pleasant, easy going, happy, funny, practically perfect in every way. I really think we could drive you across the country and you'd be happy as a lark just along for the ride. I've gotta be honest, you aren't always as chipper at home. In fact, sometimes when we are home I think about taking you on a trip. A long trip, on a plane to Rome Italy. Because once there, I have a feeling that we would run into this certain family of Gypsies who hang out near the train station. The same ones who took me for 5 euros about six years ago because they INSISTED on helping me with my suit case. I think they'd gladly take you in and put you to work luring tourists in with your version of Twinkle Twinkle while the other Gypsies do the pickpocketing.

You probably won't remember this trip. You'll only see photographs and read this letter. But let me tell you Sophie B. Carr, you are one lucky little girl. It's not everyday that a person gets to head down south with four generations in the same vehicle. It's a special thing for you to be able to play games with your great grandmother and for her to tell you crazy stories. Especially the one about some crazy little boy named "Epamimus."  Although locking her and your great great aunt in the closest and not letting them come out might not be their idea of fun. The fact that they are willing to go along with your antics makes  them slightly insane too.

So yesterday we checked out a plantation. As we pulled into the parking lot we saw one of the old slave cabins which was open to the public. Ever the optimist, you walk in, turn around with your hands outstretched and say "oooo, this is a NICE little house!!" Good thing you aren't the tour guide, you'd have people thinking that the slaves had it made in the shade!

The plantation also had the world's only clean and non-stinky petting zoo. I'm pretty sure you could have stayed in there all day chasing pigs and goats around. You remain an animal lover at heart. And this:

Completely blew your mind!

I'll make this short Little Bit since you want to head back down to the beach.  I really wish that I could bottle you up at this age. So fun, so nutty, so sweet, and so Sophie B.

Love Mama

For Your Listening Pleasure

So while we are down here in Charleston we celebrated my mom's 50th b-day (ok so her birthday was in March, but her sister lives in Kansas so it's been awhile since they were together). So one of my mom's gifts was a "Flip Video" the world's easiest camcorder. So that means Sophie videos for the ole blog. Just what you wanted right?! And since daddy-o is at home and missing his Sophie B. more than anything in this world, here she is singing her ABC's and her version of Country Roads. Enjoy six adults acting like hearing a 2 year old sing is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Oh and I can't figure out how to upload it to blogger without going through youtube so it's pretty blurry.

More from SC!

Here are a few more pics from over the last few days. We went into downtown Charleston on Sunday and the weather had improved slightly but we still managed to get caught in a small rainstorm. We did a  carriage ride through the historic area, I guess it bored Little Bit to death because she fell asleep! Tonight mama is checking out a ghost tour sans Sophie B.

Checking out the gift bags for everyone. Sophie B. got her first Webkinz, which she named "Little Oscar," so now she wants to get on the computer 24/7 and feed it!

Rockin' out on the iPod as we head into Charleston.

The world's cutest Cupcake shop! I went for the red velvet.

But the "pumpkin" was the best!

Heading to the beach today.

Dodging the waves!

Chuck Town

Well me made it to the Isle of Palms! It's beautiful but right now the weather isn't the best. Hopefully it will start shaping up soon! Little Bit did awesome in the car and that was without the DVD player so there was lots of old fashion car singing.  Last night however, a certain little person decided that she "wanted SOPHIE'S HOUSE NOW!" But eventually, she went to sleep and now we are up and ready to hit Charleston!

Here's a few pics of our quick trip to the beach when we got here yesterday. It was almost hurricane windy!

10 on Tuesday

1. So my computer is still possessed by the devil but I'm living with it for another week before I send it back because I want to take it on vacation with me. Man it doesn't get more 1st world than that!

2. There's a new obsession around here, the Wizard of Oz. I've seen it almost daily for a week!

3. Little Bit is a bike peddling queen these days.

4. Notice the high water pants in that pic?  I've yet to find a pair of jeans that fit her. So in the meantime she's wearing last year jeans which fit in the waist but are way to short! Which is worse, long jeans that you trip over, or short jeans that make you look like you ride the short bus!

5. On Saturday four of my law school girlfriends and I got all of our kiddos together for a picnic at a park. It's crazy that in just 5 years all four of us have kids! Taking a picture of 5 kids is IMPOSSIBLE. This was the best I could do! (Vivian, Ethan, Emma, Sophie, Jordan, and Baby Jackson.)

6. I'm starting to do some Christmas shopping and I'm at a loss on what to get Miss. Thing. Any ideas? I know I want to get her a cash register but apart from that I've got nothing.

7. We are getting closer and closer to putting our house for sell in this fabulous economy. GiGi came over on Saturday and repainted Sophie's playroom back to a nice taupe (how nice was that!) and we turned the room back into an office. The goal is to have the "for sale" sign in our yard by "trick-or-treat" night for maximum exposure!

8. Here's Little Bit and Ethan on the slide. I secretly hope she marries him, ha!

9. Tomorrow is picture day at school. Here's hoping she doesn't look like an ragged orphan before picture time. When I pick her up in the evening, she looks like she's been through WWI!

10. I've gotta get to crackin' and get to packin!

Ever wonder why WVU is a top party school?

We start 'em young.

Now that's some chugging. That root beer didn't stand a chance!

Corny

I'm not sure how long I have until my computer shuts off on me so I'll make this quick! This afternoon Steven and I decided to take Little Bit to the corn maze. Now it was SUPER hot today and not very fall like but this was the only weekend we had. For the past two years we've left her little butt at home with GiGi, but this year we thought she was old enough to go with us. And ole girl walk the majority of the 7 acre maze!

A girl on a mission!
